KLUB KAKOFANNEY is Oxford's longest-running independent music promoter, run entirely by volunteers, and supporting live music in Oxford. We hold gigs on the first Friday of every month (except August), presenting an eclectic mix of musical genres, experienced artists as well as up and coming new bands, both from Oxford and further afield, playing their own original music.

News from Klub Kakofanney
Price increase from January 2026: Due to increasing costs, from January 2026 onwards, we are reluctantly raising the admission charge for standard Friday night events to £10 per person. This will be our first price increase in more than four years, but we believe it still represents great value for money and is essential to keep our events viable. Klub Kakofanney is a not-for-profit venture, run by volunteers donating their own time and resources. The admission charges are used to cover our unavoidable overheads and to fund the bands who entertain us.
Make sure you pick up your Klub Kakofanney Bonus Card
Pick up one of our bonus cards (they are free) at the admission desk and we will stamp it each time you pay to come into one of our events. When you have collected three stamps on your card, your fourth visit is free of charge, or you can use it to bring in a guest free of charge. No need to register, no forms to fill in.

Life during lockdown
The Lockdown Letters
It started off as just a few mailshots to keep people in the picture when we first suspended gigs. We never thought that we would still be sending them more than a year later, to keep people's spirits up.
The Case For Culture
The Wheatsheaf, a massively important independent venue, is under threat. We put together a document for our local councillors, about the case for supporting a culture of music and creativity in society.
The Video Sessions
Since we couldn't hold gigs, we started putting together videos from past Klub Kakofanney events, and also encouraged local musicians to record short unplugged sessions for us.
